Trash collage / Materiality of digital rubbish / Media & ecology / Planned obsolescence

Sculpture/signage made from discarded electronics and wood, an outcome of collective studies into Archeology of Media Infrastructures and Media and the Environment. The Anthrobscene is the title of a book by Dr. Jussi Parikka exploring “the unsustainable, politically dubious, and ethically suspicious practices that maintain technological culture and its corporate networks. “ The author has  given permission to use the title for this exhibition.

Work title

A light echo is a physical phenomenon caused by light reflected off surfaces and returning to the observer with a relative delay. In this installation the viewer observes the input of hand motion returned to them in an audiovisual form. Moving hand slowly inside the frame the user can examine how the visuals and sounds reflect her movement.

The work is created with software tools Kinect, Processing and Pure Data.
